According to Brian Cannon and others this is the date of Noel's first gig with Oasis.
There are two versions of The Untold Story in circulation, the original from Hoddle Records and another release without no named label. A third version was also released as The Early Years - all are identical.
The Lost Tapes from KTS doesn't include "Columbia (excerpt)" or "Poetic Feedback" which is found on The Untold Story.
The Untold Story merges "Poetic Feedback" (24 second bit of feedback at the end of the last track) into the beginning of "Untitled Jam #1" from the Uptown Bar Soundcheck.
This exact same recording has (in recent years only) been frequently traded labelled as the May 5, 1992 "Club 57, Oldham" gig. Really unlikely that this is a recording from that venue.
The Boardwalk 1992 is a 2004 CD transfer from a 1992 Demo Tape owned by "MickDude". "Life in Vain" is listed on the inlay as "Acoustic Song", and the last track is labelled as "Poetic Feedback". It is believed to have been recorded from the soundboard at an early gig at the Boardwalk, which further backs up the argument it is not the Oldham gig.
An auction appeared on eBay in the 2000s listing an original tape of this concert recording. The inlay and story date the recording as January 14, 1992:
OASIS 100% GENUINE 1ST EVER CASSETTE LIVE RECORDING.
This cassette was given to me personally by Noel Gallagher as a master copy to record demos from a recording
of their first ever recorded live gig as Oasis (including Noel) at Manchesters Boardwalk, 14th January 1992.
The recording also includes their 1st ever studio recorded demo track.
Please note, to add to its value, none of these tracks were ever recorded & released except one track on the
cassette, which was the demo to the intro of 'Columbia'.
The actual cassette (no CD's then) & cassette cover was drawn & written on by Noel himself, in my presence.
The recording was taken from the mixing desk on that night & I used it as the 1st generation master to record
my demos for the band, that were then sent to the major record labels as their first ever demo. Ironically we
had no replies !!
I was asked by Sotheby's of London to auction this same cassette several years ago, but i decided against it.
So, if you want a piece of genuine rock history, here you have it.
