comments

Fantastic recording of the secret gig at Borderline which took place after the infamous video to "Cigarettes & Alcohol" was shot.

The opening instrumental track was recorded at the soundcheck before the video shoot. After the shoot is over, Liam shouted "We're gonna do some songs now" and Oasis open with a long version of "Slide Away" (with Noel playing the outro twice!).

The performance is much looser than other "proper" gigs around this time. After "Slide Away" Tony starts the intro drumming for "Cloudburst" but they play "Shakermaker" instead.

The setlist also includes early versions of "Listen Up" and "Whatever". Liam tries to sing "Spaceman" but then leaves the vocal duties to Noel who plays a rare electric version of the song. "Whatever" includes the extremely rare "...Turn and face the change" outro (to the tune of "Turn and face the stranger" from David Bowie's "Changes").

The same taper also recorded "Windsor '94", "Kentish Town '94" and "Finsbury Park I".

Japanese bootleg label "Wardour" released a "remix and remaster" in 2024.
