Comments: The infamous gig that started the punchup responsible for splitting up the band during the '94 US tour because it was so bad. Apparently Ringo Starr was also present (his son Zak would later join Oasis as a drummer). Amusing intro by KROQ's Rodney Bingenheimer: "Alright LA, Whiskey a Go Go. This is the spot. This is really going to make the band jazz. Anyway, voted as the top band voted in England (Checks with Bonehad)... The best British band in the UK (so far)... I say the best band in the universe! Anyway, Rodney on the ROQ every Sunday, you've heard them on my show. EPIC Records proudly presents the best band in Britian: none other than OASIS!"Exellent soundboard recording. Liam's vocals are pretty ropey and he gets a lot of looks from Noel during the aborted first number. In the end they stop playing and start again from the top. After the show Liam and Noel argued with Marcus in the dressing room and Noel stormed out, taking the petty cash and flying to San Fransisco where he wrote Talk Tonight about the girl he stayed with ("I hardly even knew your name")...and perhaps Liam too? ("You took your last chance once again"). The show was recorded by the record company and promo tapes were made - one of these leaked and the show was released as a VHS bootleg. I remember seeing a copy in an obscure record shop in Tokyo back in the late 1990s. The VHS source surfaced in Europe around 2003 - not sure how long it had been doing the rounds in Japan. In 2020 the fans at www.oasisarchive.com got hold of a Master Promo VHS and transferred to digital so that we could see the show in the best possible quality. A version is up on YouTube at the time of writing but you'll probably need to be quick. The promo is missing "Shakermaker" and "Bring It On Down". There's a break in the recording just before Live Forever and when it resumes the soundtrack jumps to full stereo and improves massively. In 2022 Bayswater released Live at the Whiskey A Go Go containing the full show in all its glory, along with a bonus DVD with 3x separate audio tracks ("Original", "Remaster" and "Audience") overlaid over the pro-shot video footage. High Gen VHS
