High-quality sound recording that is completely different from the already released board
On the last day of the tour accompanying the debut album “Definitely Maybe”, the Sheffield performance on April 22, 1995 was recorded on the sound board. For Oasis, who had only experienced live in a small box until then, it was the first arena performance that gathered an audience of 12,000 people. Noel looks back on this day with deep emotion. “We just put out our first single a year ago, and today we played in front of 12,000 people.”
This work reproduces a sound image close to the original sound output with a good balance of depth and depth that greatly surpasses the existing board by separate and individual remastering by AI. In particular, it’s comfortable to hear the dance-like bass that has been buried so far so clearly. I want you to experience the difference from the already released board in the sample sound source. This difference in sound quality has an impact as if the B class audience sound source became the A class sound board. In addition, “MARRIED WITH CHILDREN”, which was cut on all existing boards, is also recorded uncut.
In front of a large crowd, Liam said, “You don’t have to worry about the guards, just come closer to the front.” Seeing the enthusiastic fans unlike anything they’ve seen before, they must have felt that their existence was definitely growing. “It was like a revolution or something,” Noel recalls.
For the band and the fans, this Sheffield show has a special meaning. For drum Tony, this day is the stage as the last oasis. It is recorded in the best condition, and it is recorded with a high-quality sound board that greatly surpasses the existing board. At the end of the main part, an interview with Noel, who talks about the idea of “DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER” and the memories of the premiere in Sheffield, is included. As a bonus track, the stage of PULP, which appeared on the undercard, is also included. Permanently preserved press board with beautiful picture disc specifications.
This was the band's first Arena venue and Tony McCaroll's last proper gig with Oasis (his appearance with them on TOTP a few days later would be his last time out with the band), the first ever public performance of "Don't Look Back In Anger", and the band's biggest gig to date at this stage in their career.
Noel introduces DLBIA as a new song that he only "wrote on Tuesday" ("...haven't got a title for it either"). The lyrics and melody are a bit different from the version that would finally appear on WTSMG later in th year (remember he had only written one verse at this stage) and it was dedicated that night to Paul Mathur (journalist and friend of the band who wrote the Oasis Biography "Take Me Away"). There's also a very unique moment where Bonehead introduces "Slide Away"...
Another Place to Pray is an amazing new source of this show (previously only available as a pretty rough AUD show), clones from the DAT master. They've been described elsewhere as SBD, but more likely just really, really good AUD recording.
On November 24, 2016 rare snippets of video and audio footage of Noel performing "Don't Look Back in Anger" aired in an episode of "Hitlåtens Historia" (History of the Hit-song) on SVT (Swedish Public Television).
"Married With Children" is an electric version and is unfortunately cut on both Another Place to Pray and the DAT Source version of the show. These sources cut around 01:00 into the song and fade back in on the line "I hate the way that you are so sarcastic..."
In 2023 the Japanese label Bayswater released a new great sounding source of this show backed with Pulp's opening support act and an uncut version of "Married with Childrean".
In 2024 Wardour Records (also in Japan) released their "Remaster and Remix" version of the DAT source as Definitive Sheffield 1995, with the same cut in "Married with Children" as all the other versions of this DAT source.
