Release Notes
This album features five of the seven shows from the 1995 Japan tour for which audio recordings have been confirmed. The 1995 tour, which followed on from the previous year and expanded in scale, was canceled in February of that year and then rescheduled. At this point, the album "Morning Glory" had not yet been released, and only the single "Roll With It" had been released shortly before the Japan tour. However, the setlist featured new tracks from the album that Japanese fans would likely be hearing for the first time.
As with their first visit to Japan in 1994, an acoustic section by Noel was included in the set to accommodate the performance time and to protect Liam's throat. This included an early acoustic performance of "Fade Away," originally featured on the WAR CHILD charity album "Help," which Noel and Liam would be involved in producing after returning to Japan. Additionally, in "Whatever," the verses are sung as chorus phrases, a version like this only seen at the 1995 Japan tour. After "Whatever," they alternate days with a medley of "All The Young Dudes" and "Octopus's Garden," but "Whatever" itself is rare.
During the first Osaka performance at MATSUSHITA IMP HALL, Liam changed the phrase "behind your eyes" to "behind my eyes" in the verse of "Acquiesce," and Noel, as if responding, changed the lyrics to the exact opposite: "We don't need each other, we don't believe in one another, I know we'll never uncover what's sleeping in our soul," making this a must-listen phrase.
Compared to their first and subsequent visits to Japan, the 1995 performance in Japan is not blessed with sound sources, and there are not many already released titles. Even so, by selecting the best sources from each performance and compiling them in this way, it has become a culmination of their second visit to Japan. In addition, a reproduction tour pamphlet of the poster type from that time is included with every set. We hope you will relive Oasis' 1995 performance in Japan, which has already become an important part of the history of the Japanese rock scene, by looking at this. A beautiful picture disc with a permanently preserved press edition.
comments
Great quality show - unlike the other nights on this tour which suffer from some pretty quiet recordings, the DAT source of this night is superb.
Like other nights on the tour, Noel sings the "Always seems to me..." bridge in "Whatever" with a slightly different melody.
Hello Again was one of the original sources of this show but is missing Noel's acoustic set (to make it fit onto a single CD?). The missing tracks were released on Free Tibet / Tibetan Wonderland (and Scream Louder, probably others!) but fortunately later releases contained the full show.
Big in Osaka is a clone of the existing release Imperial Hall 29/08/1995 - both releases come from the same DAT Source, along with West Of East Osaka Days 1994-1995
Sometimes credited as having taken place at "Imperial Hall" but it's definitely Bayside Jenny:
