Taper Notes: online sourcescommentsSupported by Third Eye Blind. Noel greets the crows with: "Good Evening Everybody. We're from England, we're called Oasis and we're shit-hot..."Two different audience sources are in circulation. There's a nice recollection of the evening by a music journalist over at the We Heart Music blog. The "BF" DAT Source is superior to Live at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium '96 (and is a completely different source, albeit a bit quieter). During the outro to "I Am The Walrus" (around 10:00 on the "BF" Source, and 10:30 on the alternate source) into you can hear Noel playing the riff to "The Hindu Times". Here's a great summary of the show from @shakermaker on YouTube: Two weeks from their homecoming in Manchester and recovery in Seattle, Oasis head to California with the first date scheduled in San Francisco. A massive upgrade from the Fillmore the band play the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. With 8,500 seats it makes it one of the biggest American venues the band has played so far, even if not sold out. This show is a fiery but tight performance, and the band knock through each song at a great pace, with a bonus of it being captured on a pretty good recording too. Liam sounds very aggressive throughout this one, but like all the shows since mid-February he is in excellent shape and he along with Noel seems to be really enjoying the gig itself. Noel has a slightly more adventurous night than usual, he plays great endings to both Supersonic and I Am The Walrus. Tonight he expands the acoustic set to four songs, which would stay the same number once the Maine Road gigs began. He begins his set with Slide Away for a change, before doing Cast No Shadow, then Whatever and Wonderwall (basically the usual four acoustic numbers done around this time slightly swapped around for less capo manoeuvring). Wonderwall gets aborted due to a man in the audience shining a laser pointer at Noel’s face, and he does it again after Don’t Look Back in Anger too which gets on both his and Liam’s nerves. A very interesting pointer about this show though is the end of I Am The Walrus, as Noel plays the riff to The Hindu Times, even pre-dating the song with the riff he allegedly “ripped off”.
