Thanks to @mahsteve on the Live4Ever forum who alerted us to this vintage interview. In his own words:
The date of this interview is given as 15th December 1999. The last gig of the short US tour was on 11th December which was the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, The Pond; Anaheim, CA. I would have expected the band to fly back to the UK the day after the gig, I’m guessing they stayed to complete more promotion, interviews etc. Maybe the band returned leaving Noel there.

Interestingly he mentions how Mark’Spike’ Stent came to produce SOTSOG. Stent’s wife was a friend of Noel’s then wife Meg Matthews. They came over to visit. Stent asked what he was up to and Noel showed him the demos he had been working on. Noel then later asked Stent to produce the album.

They also mention the work of Paul Stacy who played on the album. Following Guigsy”s departure they asked Stacy to join the band as bass player but he declined as he didn’t want to tour.

Regards future plans Noel says once the SOTSOG tour is finished he wants to get in the studio in early 2001 record an oasis album with Gem and Andy but maybe not tour it as he wanted to do a solo record …Noel mentions a solo record a few times during interviews around this period which causes some friction with Liam throughout 2000.

Noel was supposed to contribute to the Cornerhop offshoot band Clinton and their debut album “Disco and the halfway to discontent” but it didn’t happen in the end. Noel (and Guigsy) later appeared on the 2002 Cornershop album “hand cream for a generation”.

He mentions that he could get the chemical Brothers to remix the new oasis album! Would have been interesting! Apparently the chemical brothers were going to work on a cover of Helter Skelter with oasis but they declined as the song had “bad karma”. Noel played the demo of go let it out to the chemical brothers and when they said they liked it he knew he was then doing something contemporary and modern sounding.
