This was the first show Oasis have played in the States since December 20th,
2008. This was one of only 9 scheduled reunion concerts in North America, and
one of only 5 scheduled in the US. All stadium shows sold out in minutes. Huge
thanks to my friend Ryan for securing the GA tickets during the presale last
year. I could write a book about this concert and how much it meant to me, but
I'll leave it with one word: magical. It was everything Oasis fans have been
clamoring for since the band's dissolution in 2009. Regarding the recording,
sadly, it's not as good as it could have been. I assumed I would be standing
in the front of the field and even arrived at the stadium 3 hours before doors
to ensure it. Turns out, Soldier Field (or the band) implemented a ticket
lottery on all GA floor tickets. So, even if you purchased a ticket for the
floor (which was all blue at the time of purchase on TM), they changed it last
minute to reflect 2 separate sections, with the front third of the field now
requiring a red bracelet. This (of course) angered a ton of fans as there
was no preshow communication, verbiage or even any posts on social media in
"know before you go". Just bad form. Because I got to the stadium at 230pm, I
essentially wasted 5 hours of my afternoon standing around for no reason as
I did not get picked in their last minute ticket lottery. By the time I got
inside, I was standing center field at roughly the 50yd line. I waited for
Cage The Elephant to come out and the sound was pretty bad. Not to mention,
we had a ton of wind, so the swirling winds did nothing for the acoustics in
the stadium. I then decided to see how the sound was at the relay stacks
in the rear and sides of the field. I determined the best sound (to my ears)
was coming from the middle right of the field facing the side relay stack.
There was also less wind on the right side of the field. Because we had a
giant tent blocking half the stage, hardly anyone stood near me. So, this was
one positive. I used my "dead rat" windscreens and they definitely helped
reduce the noise. All in all, for being forced to tape from the back half of
the field, this is still very listenable. We had fireworks at the end of
"Champagne Supernova", so they were hard limited to match the level of the
music. The left channel was amplified a touch to match the right and also
performed a slight EQ to improve clarity in post. Oasis is back! Turn this up!
